Bio
Born in the winter of 1986, my formative years were spent in a nurturing environment full of great art, dance, music and literature. I remember spending many harmonious hours as a child painting alongside my parents in their studio. At the age of seven I began training for a professional career in ballet and most of my time and creative energy was directed toward my dancing. As an adolescent I danced on the stages of the New York State Theater and the Metropolitan Opera House. As a professional dancer I danced with the Suzanne Farrell Ballet at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC. While in Europe and the Netherlands I spent time in the Louvre, Musée d'Orsay, and the Rijksmuseum. In the States I frequented the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the National Gallery. After being inspired by my travels and all the incredible art I had seen, I started painting again and began my career as a painter. I've discovered that all art forms are fundamentally the same; they are about revealing truth and beauty, demand the utmost in time and attention, and must be grounded in good technique. I aspire to create paintings that are full of joy, color and light.

Artist statement
I’ve always loved miniatures and small, precious things. In my paintings I create intimate, detailed portraits of objects that hold meaning for me. Each still life that I paint has its own distinct personality and humanity. Using simple, serene compositions to accentuate the beauty of each deceptively ordinary subject, I want to express the beauty and intricacies in the small things that are often passed by or go un-noticed: the vibrant red tip of a strawberry, the slow melting of a scoop of ice cream, the shimmering gloss on a glazed tart, a sharp edge against a soft ribbon, succulent ripe fruit inside a flakey crust, the delicate, fleeting beauty of cast shadows. All of these elements evoke a sense of calm within my own self. I want to make the simple significant.
