Bio
I graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design. I have no formal art education. My mother was my art teacher. She had exposed me to art since childhood, and then in high school I took a drawing class for extra credit and discovered that I actually enjoyed producing art. After I graduated from college my mother taught me how to paint with oils. She had taken a lot of workshops with Pittsburgh area artists, yet she also had not studied art formally. I currently work as a kitchen designer in addition to my art career.

There are many influences for my oil paintings as far as subject matter. Animals, Interiors with interesting light and my travels to England, France, Italy, Canada and New York are among them. Other art forms also influence me. Books I have read have inspired my travels; music stirs certain moods and adds longevity to my marathon painting sessions. Great coffee and wine help make my sessions in the studio even more enjoyable. The old masters and my mother are the artists that have inspired me the most over the years, but of late I have discovered many great new talents that also paint in the realist style.

Artist statement
I paint in the realistic style partly for the challenge of it, partly because I want to capture moments, days and events that will perhaps never occur again. Light will never highlight my cat’s face in exactly same way twice; two people sitting at a restaurant table will never create the same mood again. I paint things that I think are beautiful and reminiscent of the good things in life. There is a lot of distress in the world and I want only the opposite to exist in my paintings.
